Brenda Embry
Referrals and Assessments
bembry@denbighbaptist.org
Brenda is a graduate of Florida State University
(B.S.), the University of North Florida (Master in
Education) and the Citadel (Master of Education). Two
years ago she became trained in dyslexia testing
and is now credentialed as a Certified Dyslexia Testing
Specialist.
In 1993 Brenda received assurance of her salvation
and acknowledged Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.
She describes her conversion as a “process” and
personally understands the importance of early discipleship
in the believer’s life. A particular Bible
verse that has taken on special significance for
her in the past seven years is: “Now that I
am old and gray, do not abandon me, O God. Let me
proclaim your power to this new generation, your
mighty miracles to all who come after me.” Psalm
71:18 (NLT).
Brenda enjoyed living out the reality of that scripture
verse when she owned and operated a tutoring franchise
for four years that covered three counties, including
Charleston, South Carolina. Her 25 years in the field
of education also include teaching students (K-12)
in public, as well as private Christian schools.
Brenda enjoys beginning new educational programs,
especially the one that God opened the door for at
DBCS two years ago for dyslexic students. This
begins her fourth year as the Referrals and Assessments
coordinator.
Brenda is the wife of our DBCS administrator, Wayne
Embry, and they met while attending FSU. They have
been married for 35 years and have been blessed by
their son, Adam, daughter-in-law, Charlotte, and
one year old grandson, Iain Thomas Embry.

Dawn Sims
Administrative Staff
dsims@denbighbaptist.org
Dawn joined the staff of Denbigh Baptist Christian School in 1985. Initially working as a substitute teacher, she has served as executive secretary and office manager for the last 16 years. Dawn and her husband Bill have one child, April, who started at DBCS in K-5 and graduated in 1997.
“I consider it an incredible blessing, rich with opportunity, although heart-wrenching at times, to work beside and for the families with whom God continues to bless our ministry. When we realize the incredible amount of time we spend with your children, we are awed by the amount of responsibility with which you and He entrust us. Loving, cherishing, and striving for excellence in each life brought our way brings much joy – a gift multiplied by the opportunity I have to become attached to the parents, grandparents, and extended families of our students as well!”
