Portsmouth, VA:  The Lady Minutemen soccer team was alive and well for their Friday Night Lights championship game versus Atlantic Shores.  The team showed their strength coming off a double overtime, PK victory over Portsmouth Christian a day prior, the team took the field under the lights and from the start appeared to be in control of the game.  In the end, they were able to complete their undefeated season through the METRO tournament by defeating Atlantic Shores 2-0.

On Wednesday, March 25, 2009, Vanessa Murdock(meteorologist) from WTKR visited DBCS. She spoke to students from K-5 to 5th grade. Topics included ways hurricanes and tornados originated, being prepared and lastly, the damaging effects that either may cause. Students viewed original news footage of hurricanes and
tornados at work.

Fourth Annual Safety Patrol Day
We are pleased to inform you that we are having our Fourth Annual Safety Patrol Day on Tuesday, May 5th. We will be having pizza and soda (provided by school) during lunch to show these young people how much we appreciate all their hard work this year.

The PTF is celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week from May 4th thru May 8th.
If you would like to help the PTF with that, please contact Carol Nelson at Carols3boys@cox.net. Be sure you appreciate all of your teachers on this week for them.

The DBCS Speech and Drama Class will be performing “You’re a Good Man
Charlie Brown” on May 14,15,16 at Ivy Memorial at 7:00. The cost will be
$5 for students and $7 for adults. Tickets can be purchased starting April 30
from the Speech and Drama students.

K5 Graduation will be on Thursday, May 14th.

8TH Grade Promotion will be on Friday, May 15th.

High School Graduation will be on Friday, May 22nd at Liberty Baptist at 7:00.
