Denbigh Baptist BASEBALL!
Updated 4/30/2010 Good game men. We saw several marks of improvement. First just look at the score from the last time we played Summit. Also we had multiple hits. Several runs, a lot of good defensive plays, a couple of stolen bases. We pitched very well and our catchers have done an excellent job maturing behind the plate. We started off 1-2 months behind all the other teams, since we didn't even know if we were going to have a team until 2 weeks before the first game. Coach Justin & I are proud of your character and your development. It's been a joy to coach each one of you. We can develop our team if you start playing more ball, go to the batting cages and start our season earlier next year. Please remember to get all you uniforms (pants, jerseys & belts) washed, put in a plastic bag with your name on it and drop them off in the Athletic office at the school. Details about our end of the year party TBA.
Updated 4/28/2010 The rain tried, but we kept playing. It's a part of baseball, waiting out rain delays. The first game was a wash. We were very off and they were very on. The rain delay may have affected us some too. However the 2nd game was much more competitive. We had our 1st lead of the season. We held them and were in the game for several innings, then we had a few defensive miscalculations & eventually got beat 14 - 3. Had several good tag out plays, two at home and one at third. This was our best game by far. Had several base runners. I am proud of the way we have progressed. Last game of the season is tomorrow versus Summit.
Pdated 4/23/2010 Playing more competively. Starting to put ourselves in the position to make plays & getting our gloves on the ball. Now we need to be able to complete the play. We will practice Monday at DBCS then have a double header at Isle of Whight on Tueday. We will follow that up with our last game against Summit on Thursday the 29th at Deer Park. Keep taking strides men.
Updated 4/22/2010 Change of plans (again). Practice at DBCS today (Thursday), Deer Park has make up games from rain post poned games on Wednesday. Since we have a double header tomorrow we will only have batting practice today. Practice should be over by 6:15 pm.
Updated4/17/2010 Wow, this was a hard start to the season. Summit just proved too strong for us on Friday. But we learned a lot about ourselves and we know some things we need to work on. Even though we were beat badly, I am proud of the way you kept your heads up and kept giving your best effort. That takes character. We play again on Monday against Alliance at 4 pm. School dismissal at 2:45 and bus l;eavbes at 3 pm. We will then practice at Deer Park on Tuesday and Thursday with another game on Friday. I apologize for the times we have shown up for practice at Deer Park and had to rearrage our practices because of other teams playing. We havbe to work with the city on scheduling and sometimes the communication to us is not the greatest. Enjoy your weekend and lets play ball on Monday.
Updated 4/12/2010 Welcome back from Spring Break! Those who did practice last week - you are a better player for it, which helps our team too. Practice this week at Deer Park (un inclimate weather - then it will be at the school). Game this Friday at Deer Park. Be at the field by 5 pm. FYI for the 19th game dismissal is at 2:45 pm bus leaves at 3 pm. Game on 23rd dismissa; is 1:50 & bus leaves at 2 pm. Looking forward to seeing all the guys today at practice!
Updated 4/1/2010 Practice today at the school. Practice is OVER AT 6:15 PM. No practice on Friday - worship the Lord on this Good Friday. Practice next week (for those who are in town) is from 5:15 pm - 6:15 pm. We will hit in the batting cage. This will be a great week to improve your hitting. There will be no fund raiser this season. We were too late in starting the season to do it. Please make sure you pay all your fees and have your physicals.
Updated 3/29/2010 Practice today in the gym. Will have reschedule of game info as soon as we confirm with Summit. Thanks for your patience.
Updated 3/28/2010 1st Game is Monday! Wear a shirt and tie to school. Dismiss from class at 2:20 and the bus is leaving at 2:30. Mr. Hoxie is driving. Be dressed in uniform and have all of your baseball equipment with you when you get on the bus. Have a bottle water so you can drink it in the dug out. Even if it is raining we will go to the field, the umpires will determine whether we play or not. This is a good opportunity to see what we can do in a competitive situation. Be prepared. Be focused. Expect to play your best. Updated 3/26/2010
PRACTICE FOR FRIDAY 3/26 WILL BE AT DBCS!!!!

We look forward to a great spring of baseball...as for the schedule, we initially informed the METRO Conference that we would not be fielding a team based on the initial spring sports sign ups. The athletic department is working on putting together a 10 game schedule for us. More to follow.
